That detail makes the story more believable: an abnormal scan does not automatically identify what a mass or unusual finding is. Additional imaging, laboratory testing, specialist evaluation, and sometimes a biopsy may be necessary before doctors can determine the cause.
The most important moment comes when the doctor says:
“Mrs. Thorne, we need to move quickly.”
For Maya’s mother, those words transform weeks of doubt into immediate action.
